Group of mums remember daughter’s life at crash site where she was killed in 2019

For this family, grieving never gets easier.

Adalyn Zisa died on June 2, 2019, after being hit by a car while on a family bike ride.

Adalyn’s mother, Shannon, and other grieving mothers met at the crash site on Sunday to share stories.

It happened as Shannon Zisa struggled to turn her tragedy into purpose by creating an organization called Acts for Adalyn.

For her, this weekend was all about healing and support.

“Today we celebrate Adalyn’s legacy and honor her memory,” said Shannon Zisa.

Altamonte Springs police say Shona Lynn Wallace was under the influence of drugs when she somehow jumped the sidewalk on State Road 414 and Eden Park Road, hitting the bike Adalyn was riding with her mother .

His father was also injured while riding on a separate bicycle.

“When you lose a toddler, that becomes a big part of how they died and this weekend we have to tell their life story,” Shannon Zisa said.

This weekend, she organized a retreat with other grieving mums and a walk on Sunday, many of them carrying a special gift.

“Bunnies are the gifts we send to mums and in the back there is a zipper so the mum has the option to put a special keepsake inside so she can carry her child with her”, said Shannon Zisa.

Shannon Zisa announced she was expecting a girl in September.

When last checked, court records show the driver involved in the accident is due to appear before a judge for a status hearing on Wednesday.

As for Adalyn’s father, Dane, family members say he still suffers from a traumatic brain injury.
