Richmond County Libraries Launch Appleby Garden Concert Series

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW / WAGT) – Richmond County Libraries are launching their Appleby Gardens concert series. The first show will take place next Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This year’s series is completely virtual, which means you can experience it from the comfort of your own home.

Zanaiah Billups is the first performer and she graduated from Davidson this year. She says she is thrilled to share music and company despite the pandemic.

“They can certainly expect a range of genres and hear something very different. I’m primarily classically trained as a singer, but I love to sing jazz and other genres here and there, ”she said.

The series will also include other singers. On Tuesday June 15th the Doug Flowers Band will perform and on Tuesday June 29th Harcourt Waller.

Doug Flowers is a seasoned bluegrass musician and composer from Hephzibah. He played in the bluegrass band Avalanche for many years. In 2015, with the success of the Doug Flowers & Friends album, Doug formed the Doug Flowers Band.

Harcourt Waller was educated at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, London College of Music and St. Andrews Presbyterian College. Mr. Waller made his piano concert debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1987. Harcourt currently lives in Savannah where he plays piano for the Chatham Club and was the organist of Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church for 20 years.

Stream every concert live on the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System Youtube and Facebook.
