The Ford Ranger makes the Maverick smaller
The 2022 New York International Auto Show is in full swing this week. Ford showcases some of its most popular truck models, including the F-150, Ranger and Maverick. Seeing the Maverick and the Ranger together makes the Maverick even smaller.
The size of the Ford Maverick might be underestimated

To call the Ford Maverick tiny might be an understatement. It’s hard to visualize the actual size of the Maverick without knowing how much larger the midsize Ford Ranger is.
The Ford Ranger measures 211 inches long, 78 inches wide and 71 inches high. The Maverick is just 200 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 69 inches tall. The mid-size Ford Ranger is almost a full foot longer than the Maverick. It’s also practically half a foot wider than the Maverick.
Seeing the Ford Maverick in person calls its practicality into question. His truck bed is 54 inches long. The Ranger’s truck bed is 60 to 72 inches long, depending on the model. The average adult bike is 69 inches long, so the Maverick’s Flexbed is a little tight.
The Maverick’s truck bed might be fully customizable, but the question is, how do you fit anything into that little bed? The Maverick might be more than it looks, but it’s hard to tell even when you’re up close and personal with the little pickup.
The Maverick Flexbed is supposed to compensate for its small size

The Ford Maverick’s Flexbed is easily its most unique feature. The truck is stripped down, especially the base model. Since the truck bed is so small, the Blue Oval has made it fully customizable to be more practical.
The Maverick Flexbed features threaded DIY bed holes and slots to make it easier for Maverick owners to adjust the bed to suit their needs. Ford claims the Maverick can haul lumber, bikes and even sofas in its bed. The small pickup might not be suited for the average truck driver, but the Maverick wasn’t aimed at the same audience as the Ranger. It’s one of the smallest trucks money can buy, for better or worse.

The 2022 Ford Maverick isn’t for everyone. That being said, the small pickup truck has become quite popular in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Maverick appeals to a new demographic of truck owners and drivers.
The little pickup is incredibly affordable, starting at just $19,995. According to Car and Driver, the standard hybrid truck gets an incredible 42 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway. He might not be able to store a lot of cargo in his bed, but this thing can squeeze into a tight parking spot around town and sip gas like a sedan. The Maverick is the truck for drivers who would never have considered buying a pickup truck before.
