After a complete renovation during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company says the new store is “a far cry from the more traditional bike retail model.

Along with bookable sales appointments, there is also a welcome reception, sales meeting desks, as well as a dedicated and comfortable waiting area for customers with a TV, coffee machine and restrooms for the customers.

Neill Hope, Managing Director of ECC, said, “I am so proud of what our small construction team and staff have accomplished during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The new store is even more impressive than my initial vision.

“The e-bike knowledge and expertise in selling e-bikes that we have accumulated over more than ten years has enabled us to create the most progressive bike shop in Scotland; a much more welcoming, comfortable, spacious and safe environment for our customers and staff.

“Our long-term future protection project happened to fit perfectly with the ‘pandemic protection’ requirement.

“Having started the business in 2006, we quickly established ourselves as Scotland’s leading e-bike specialists, often frowned upon by bike industry purists who couldn’t see past 100 pedal horsepower. We were just too left-wing. With our new store, we are once again disrupting the industry by going against the grain of bicycle retail.

“Unfortunately, we cannot organize a launch party at this time. However, the store is open and we look forward to welcoming all of our customers, new and old, who travel from across Scotland and beyond to purchase and service their e-bikes, when it is safe to travel again. .

Mr Hope added: “With the agreement of the UK Government Work-Cycle Program and the Scottish Government has supported Energy Saving Trust eBike Loan Program to help with the purchase of an electric bike, now is the perfect time to invest in an electric bike.

A new 3D virtual tour of the showroom was produced. It was designed to give customers a fantastic first impression of the new store.

It is also hoped that once they see the store’s open and secure environment, they will be keen to visit in person when restrictions allow.

Ben MacPherson, MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith, said: “I warmly welcome the opening of the Electric Cycle Company showroom and workshop on Crewe Road North.

“It’s great that there is so much local demand for sustainable transportation and I commend the Electric Cycle Company for engaging the community in the e-bike revolution, offering free repairs during the pandemic, loans bicycles for key workers and support for local community groups.

“I look forward to visiting when restrictions permit and it is safe to do so.”

There are plans for the old ECC shop on Granton Road. It will soon become the base for a new community benefit corporation, Urban Initiatives, which will focus on electric and e-Cargo bike rentals, bike maintenance and training, and local guided bike rides. electrical.
